If you want to save some money and improve the quality of your food,
you need to learn how to best store produce.
If you store lettuce in refrigerator without washing it would be fresh longer.
Wash lettuce the day you are going to use it.
When lettuce starts having brown spots you probably will not use it for salads,
but do not throw it away-you can saute it. Sauteed lettuce is an uncommon
but very tasty side dish. Cook lettuce quickly in a little olive oil or butter, add
minced garlic, salt or other seasonings. You will get a great dish and a perfect
source of vitamins.
Also to keep the lettuce or spinach fresh you can wrap it in a dry paper towel
and then out it in a plastic bag before storing in the refrigerator. This would keep
your salads from spoiling a lot longer.
Try to keep your lettuce in a container of water in the refrigerator. It would
extend its life and keep it from drying.
